Biography
Phillip Klassen works at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, where he teaches classes on Sound Design and Audio Implementation for Video Games. He is a game audio specialist with a wide range of experience in sound design, music composition, and audio implementation. As a 2017 graduate of the DigiPen Institute of Technology, he has worked in the games industry on numerous game teams in various roles, including Sound Designer, Composer, Audio Lead, and Audio Implementor.
While at Oxide Games, he served as a Senior Sound Designer on Ara: History Untold (2024 release). On this project, he was responsible for significant areas of the game’s audio, including UI, combat, environment, and audio implementation, and he helped create many of the audio systems from design through content creation and implementation. Phillip has also worked on a wide variety of indie games, contributing to titles such as InVokeR, Nightmare Grotto, Mutant Football League, and Cricket.
